The comfort of fall

Easily the best photo of the bunch.

Okay, you might be asking yourself, is this dumb bitch really writing a post on this outfit? But let me tell you right now, this will probably be my favorite outfit to wear the whole winter.

Look, here's a glamour shot:

Still no? Even with the sun on my hair?

Okay, so it's not super stylish, but I'd be lying if I said this won't basically become my uniform this fall and winter. I won't wear it anywhere special, no, but you're damn straight I'll wear it on the weekends and as soon as I get home from work.

It's a combination of my favorite things: an over-sized, comfy thermal I stole from my boyfriend, my Gap skinny jeans and my Steve Madden slouchy boots (they are supposed to be over the knee, but, psh, like they ever actually stay up).

Some fashion-y people would probably wear one of those chunky chain necklaces over it, but that kind of defeats the purpose of it being a casual outfit.

I stole the thermal after borrowing it last fall from my boyfriend and I think for awhile he had hopes he'd get it back, but sorry, friend, that's not happening. Everyone knows slouchy sweaters are the best thing about winter. (If only because you can eat ten pumpkin pies in one sitting and no one will be the wiser.)

So what's your go-to uniform for cold weather?

  1. haha I love this post, especially the "Okay, you might be asking yourself, is this dumb bitch really writing a post on this outfit?" line at the beginning haha. I think it looks cute!! Comfortable and casual but still put together & not messy. Thumbs up over here!

My go-to outfit for cold weather would probably be these high waisted black pants I have from H&M (I love high waisted anything because they make my butt look amazing haha), and either my oversized plaid shirt or my oversized denim shirt - both slightly tucked in around the front. And then top it off with either black boots, or these wedge boots I have. I know wedge boots aren't 'exactly' casual but hey, I love the height lol.

  3. Isn't fall the best for clothes? I am currently cozily tucked into my go-to fall outfit--skinny jeans, booties, and an oversized cardigan with a probably obnoxious geometric print on it :)

  4. LOL you are amazing! Normally I would object to anyone referring to themselves as a dumb bitch but in this case I approve ;)

I live in leggings and oversized t-shirts so nothing but love for this outfit from me.

  5. My goal rule when it comes to dressing in general is: comfort over everything! This outfit definitely meets my standards of comfy wear! My favorite part about Fall is layering oversized tops with boots, jeans or leggings, scarves, and cute hats!

  6. That's sounds adorable! And I am so with you on high-waisted stuff--I love it. I need more over-sized shirts and not just the stuff I stole from my boyfriend.

  7. Haha, honestly, I feel great in this outfit--it's just not your typical "fashion" blogger's outfit since it's lacking a few layers/costume jewelry.

  8. Love it! I don't know how I lived before skinny jeans. And I desperately need some more cardigans that aren't grey.

  9. haha, thanks! I only within the past year jumped on the leggings trend (I know, right?), and I don't know how I lived without them for so long.

  10. Yes! All of that sounds perfect. The only downside is all the fall layers make it so annoying to go shopping! You either have to decide to dash into the mall without your coat or it takes ten minutes to get undressed every time you want to try on clothes.

  11. This post makes me happy that we are besties, FO' REAL. Also, I love the harlequin shot with the sun in your hair, all you need is logan in his lumberjack attire to complete the picture. PS: YOU ARE SUPER CUTE.

  12. Haha, thank you MY DEAREST. Maybe Logan should be a lumberjack for Halloween. He already has enough flannel.

  13. I love this outfit, simple or not. I'm actually looking for a new pair of tall boots so I can wear the same thing every day and still look cute. :) So yeah. No qualms here! I'm all about some comfy.

  14. I absolutely adore this outfit! Wish I lived somewhere cool enough to wear it :)
Unfortunately, Florida doesn't get a Fall season!

  15. Thanks, Allison! Good luck on your search! I'm thinking I want another pair of boots too, preferably flat!

  16. Haha, aw, bummer! I used to live in Texas where it didn't get too cold either. I guess it's a give and take for nice, warm weather most of the year!

  17. Hey! I love that outfit! And I'm not only saying that because it looks eerily similar to the same one that I live in :)

  18. Haha, this made me laugh! I actually find your fall casual outfit to be way more dressed up (or at least, well-fitted) than my typical casual outfit (PJ's anyone?). I like that you still change into ACTUAL CLOTHES after work, haha. I'm straight up all about the flannel. All day long if I can help it. My new fashion goal is to have a wardrobe full of things that feel like PJs but pass for real clothes in the real world. Bahaha.

  19. I actually love this post. I have most of those items, except the boots.. I need the boots!

Its nice to see a post on an outfit that you look at and go 'I wish I had the cash to buy those items!'

I've nominated you for the Sunshine Awards.

  22. Thanks, Becky! I'd link the boots, but they're a few years old now!
