Weekly Wishes

How I feel at the moment. (Taken at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney)

Welcome to my very first Weekly Wishes link-up! I've seen practically every blogger I read participate in this link-up, created by Melyssa of the Nectar Collective, every week but for some reason, I am only just now getting around to it myself.

The Nectar Collective

Since it's my first, I guess you'll just never know if I accomplished a goal from last week! (Let's just say I did).

But onward and upward: Well reminder #543 that I'm currently unemployed, so my goal for this week is to apply to at least one job each day to which I think I'm a strong candidate.

I don't mean applying to random jobs just to apply so I can check it off my list and pretend like I'm actually accomplishing something, but finding job listings where I stand a decent chance at hearing back from the hiring manager.

And instead of questioning my qualifications, I need to remind myself that I'm, hello, kind of amazing (well at least I have great hair), and that it wouldn't hurt to have a little bravado sometimes.

And while I need a job (hello dwindling finances), I need to be careful not to get caught up in a job that I won't be happy at, so while I can't be too picky, I also need to be a little picky. Yeah, that makes sense.

Not the most exciting goal, but here's to getting a job!

  5. Thanks, Amber! Maybe I should write that down on a piece of paper and tape it to my computer. Or just go through job listings with a nice, full glass of wine in hand. (Kidding!)

  6. Haha, thanks Kayli! Maybe I'll just start sending them pictures of my hair along with my resume. Couldn't hurt.

  10. You totally have great hair and I feel like that should be enough to secure you a high paying job where you tell people what to do because I can't count the amount of times that I was at a new job and was secretly thinking "Don't tell me what to do because you don't even have good hair." True story.

  11. Hahahaha. And you don't even have to tell me that's a true story.

  14. YAYYYYY Weekly Wishes is so much fun! :))) I love it!

Well, good luck on applying to those targeted jobs!! And I agree -- what's the point of applying to jobs you don't want? To make yourself feel productive? It'll reflect better in your applications to actually have a sense of enthusiasm and write according to the posting. If you apply to everything you're qualified for, then you just spread yourself too thin! Good luck in your employment journey! :)))

  15. Hey lady! Thanks so much! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. Here's hoping I hear back from someone soon. I'm not discouraged yet, but I still wish the perfect job would appear that I am perfect for!
